My painting for the 2019 Railroad Days Plein Air Paint Out competition won first place this year! It was a lovely day to take to the historic town center with my easel and brushes, the old bank and hardware store made an atmospheric and dynamic composition. Well done to all the participants, there was a lot of great work this year! The city has purchased the original but prints are now available in my Etsy shop: https://www.etsy.com/listing/716400448/print-snoqualmie-bank-watercolor
I managed to squeeze in time for another plein air painting during the festival of the Northwest Railway Museum, prints and original are available in my Etsy shop: https://www.etsy.com/listing/716400932/print-snoqualmie-train-station-historic

I am pleased to share my latest work, "Sunrise in the Foothills". I took the reference photos for this composition on Christmas Eve morning last year; the sun rose so low in the sky as it does so near the solstice, creating beautiful long shadows across a dewy field with Rattlesnake Ledge rising proudly in the background. It is such a privilege to witness such magical moments in nature, it was a joy to bring the scene to life in watercolor.
Summer is nearly here which means its art walk season!!
I am a proud participant of the Snoqualmie Finally Friday Art and Wine walks and have been for three years now. The 2019 season kicked off on May 31st with an amazing turn out, I think they've added several new and very talented local artists this year and I hope I get to meet them all. These are always very popular events so be sure to get your tickets early to enjoy the wine, food, music, and art!
The art walk is always the last Friday of each month from May through September in historic downtown Snoqualmie, from 6pm - 9pm. For more details on participating wineries or to buy tickets, please visit the website:
The next one is on June 28th, I hope to see you there!
I love driving through downtown Snoqualmie and seeing my artwork up on their streetlight banners, what an honor! I won the Plein Air painting competition in 2017 and was thrilled when the city approached me about featuring my winning composition on their banners. There are four different artworks by four different winners and they really add a beautiful custom touch to the town center. Be sure to look up next time you're passing through! The city has an article about the banners here:
My little feature as follows:

There was a great turnout at this year's Railroad Day's Snoqualmie Plein Air Paint Out and I really enjoyed participating again at this fun annual event! I found a nice spot by the river down in Sandy Cove Park and noticed a few other artists perched on the edge of the riverbank between two large trees. This looked like a great composition full of contrast, highlights, and shadows. I always enjoy painting outdoors in the fresh air for a couple hours, one of life's many joys!
It was great to see all the other artists' works, particularly from the artist I painted in my own work, there was a lot of talent on display. I came away with third place this year, already looking forward to next year! A big thank you to the Snoqualmie Arts Commission for hosting this wonderful event.
I am pleased to announce that I have several pieces featured in Lynn Adams latest edition of her Beauty and Bounty cook book series "A Celebration of Olympic National Park and Olympic Coast Cuisine". The book is now available for purchase on Amazon.com :
The book is full of delicious recipes and stunning artwork, all of which capture the essence and feel of the beautiful Pacific Northwest. I can't wait to try many of the irresistible dishes including Maple Ginger Salmon Bites, Moscato Poached Pear Salad, Rainbow Trout with Hazelnut Butter, and Northwest Waterfront Stew.
I love how Lynn has paired such a unique variety of Northwest artwork with her tasty recipes, the book is a must-have for any Northwest art or cooking enthusiast. The images are vibrant and recipes are clear and easy to follow, it would also make a special gift sure to impress.
"Beauty and Bounty, A Celebration of Olympic National Park and Olympic Coast Cuisine is a road trip through the National Park via stunning paintings from the mountains, through the forest, to the wild coast. Along the way, you will find recipes created with the rich bounty from farms, orchards and waters of the Olympic Peninsula."
UPDATE: All three pieces entered into the exhibition have sold! Already looking forward to next year's small works show.
This morning I dropped off three small watercolor paintings that have been juried into Gallery North's annual Small Works exhibition and caught a glimpse of many of the other works already being hung. There were so many beautiful pieces, it is sure to be a popular show! Additionally, this year Gallery North have displayed all the artworks in the show on their website:
